I have been eating in Gino's Brick Oven Pizza in their original branch was in along Katipunan Avenue across my university since 2011. It was so convenient for me that I remember just crossing the foot bridge to get my hands on their Neapolitan-style brick oven Pizza.
If you ask me, I can't really choose which flavour of pizza of theirs is my favourite but here are my top picks:
Mushroom Pizza
Their Mushroom pizza is cream based with a generous amount of mushrooms, mozzarella, garlic, pesto walnuts and blue cheese. Just a tip, Gino's staff are very flexible so feel free to change the base of you pizza to tomato sauce if you don't like cream and remove the nuts if you're allergic. I like this because of the pesto and mushrooms.
Sausage Pizza for Meat Lovers
For meat and sausage lovers, go for the Sausage pizza. Gino makes their own homemade sausages for this! It also has a generous amount of kesong puti and topped with onions and basil. Their is also another type of sausage pizza, Panna Sausage, which is also very similar to there Sausage Pizza but has cream and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Other pizzas I'd also recommend are:
S.M.EGG -- Homemade Sausage, Mushroom, 2 Eggs, Gouda and Cream. This is a Gino's classic! There are sunny side up eggs on your pizza and are a bit runny but it's definitely a must try!
Buffalo Chicken -- my usual go-to because of the yummy shredded buffalo chicken and squares of mozzarella on the pizza!
and for BACON lovers, go for the Bacon Gouda -- Honey Bacon with Gouda! simple but really good especially if you're a fan of soggy bacon!
Why do I love Gino's? What makes their pizza great?
Its their crust!! It's crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside! As much as I love their toppings, I always look forward to eating their crust since its best paired with their homemade Gino's Spicy Honey!
This pizzeria is the pioneer to the spicy honey craze drizzled on your pizza. This doesn't suit everyone's taste buds, but it definitely does with mine since I love sweets.
I'm sorry if I keep on saying you have to try this and I love that. But this is another thing you have to try. It is the dish that made me eat and actually like salted egg or "maalat na itlog" back in 2011. Gino's Salted Egg Pasta. They were the pioneers to this creation in Manila. Its basically freshly made fettuccine pasta (extra points for me because I love freshly made pasta), salted egg, cream, bacon bits and more Parmigiano-Reggiano. Simple yet very tasty! I can easily eat a whole plate of this and be left wanting more.
Salted Egg Pasta
They also have other pastas like Lemon Mushroom and Arrabbiata, which are also good. And I saved the healthiest for last. Their house salad with caramelised walnuts, figs, balsamic dressing and shaved parmesan with an option to include their own Burrata. I usually also order this if I'm in the mood for some greens and if I'm with a larger party since the burrata is definitely for sharing.
House Salad with Burrata
I always exit Gino's with a smile on my face and a happy tummy. They serve good quality food and have excellent service. Plus they continuously expand their menu so I get to try and discover new favourites from time to time.
So, if you haven't tried Gino's yet, definitely give it a try! They have multiple branches, click here to find the one nearest to you.
And if you already did and want more, they are open and ready for pick-ups. Order now and support local businesses!
