CRABS CRABS CRABS!

Are you a Crab lover? If you are, you found the right post!

I love crabs. I eat crabs with my hands for hours that my fingers get all wrinkly.

My current favourite crabs in Manila is from Royal Kitchen Seafood Restaurant in Macapagal Boulevard Seaside or as we Filipinos call it "Dampa." Basically you go to the market first to buy your fresh live seafood of choice and bring it to the restaurant to have it cooked the way of your choice.

My personal favourite which is the best in Royal Kitchen is their Salted Egg Crabs! No other restaurant elsewhere comes near to how Royal Kitchen makes their salted egg crabs. They use fresh salted egg mixture to make it super tasty then deep fried that will keep you coming for more!

I also usually get their Singaporean Chili Crab which is also delicious and their regular deep fried crab! They also make the best tempura and its nothing compared to the Ebi Tempura offered in Japanese restaurants.

Just two quick tips: always reserve before going to Royal Kitchen, they are always fully booked and when buying crabs, you have to buy fresh. Royal Kitchen Seafood Restaurant does not accept dead crabs from the market to ensure superior quality and taste of their cookings.

While for those with a tight budget but want to feast on crabs, fear not, I also have a recommendation for you. The crabs offered may not have a wide selection of cooking styles but if its crabs you're after, Unli Crab and Prawns By Chef Roel Cruz located in Malolos, Bulacan would do the trick! For only around Php 800 per person, you can get unlimited steamed crabs, shrimp and rice. You can't go wrong with that!

The photo above was my first batch before I had my hands dirty. I recall having around 5 pieces of whole crabs to myself! Just a note, the crabs are smaller than the regular size but nevertheless, still meaty and tasted great. Make me feel grateful how I love the seafood in our country! So, don't stuff yourself with the unlimited rice but with the unlimited crabs!

Lastly, if you want to eat crabs at the comfort of your home especially now with this pandemic, I can suggest Mad Crab PH. This was my latest discovery just last month from a friend and since I was stuck at home during the lockdown and my family wanted crabs, I gave it a shot. I ordered 1.5kg of their Singaporean Chili Crabs!

I would say being homemade, taste-wise it is good. Crabs are the same size as the one's in Malolos, smaller than regular ones yet still meaty. The only unfortunate thing that made me not fully enjoy this is the seller did not offer to have the gills cleaned, hence, some pieces were sandy. I would have completely loved the sauce if it weren't for the sandy texture but just take note to have the gills cleaned if you opt to order.

That's all the crabs for now!
